Gemigliptin (Zemiglo)

Raw research findings for this medication. Mostly single studies, not curated or confirmed robust.

About Gemigliptin

What it is

Gemigliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor developed in South Korea: it blocks the enzyme that breaks down incretins, gut hormones that make the pancreas release insulin after a meal. It is used for type 2 diabetes in Korea and several other countries, and is not approved in Europe or the US. It is sold as Zemiglo.

How genes come into it

Gemigliptin is cleared partly by CYP3A4 and partly unchanged by the kidneys. The gene study listed, from Korea, looked at GLP1R for how much blood sugar fell. The evidence is weak, and there is no CPIC or DPWG guideline.
