Zinc acetate is a zinc salt used as a medicine. As Galzin (Wilzin), it is a maintenance treatment for Wilson's disease: zinc makes gut cells produce metallothionein, which traps copper so it is lost in the stool instead of absorbed. Zinc acetate lozenges are also sold for colds.
Zinc is absorbed and handled by zinc transporters rather than drug-processing enzymes. The gene study listed looked at SLC30A8, a zinc transporter in insulin-making cells and a type 2 diabetes gene, for blood sugar response to zinc supplements. The evidence is weak, and there is no CPIC or DPWG guideline. Wilson's disease itself is caused by ATP7B variants.

PharmGKB weighs all studies of a variant and rates how strong the evidence is, from 1A (strongest) to 4.
SLC30A8 rs13266634: Level 3. Efficacy. 1.
Studies of how well it worked in people carrying a variant.
Study findings and evidence levels: PharmGKB (CC BY-SA 4.0). Guidelines: CPIC and DPWG, as bundled in PharmCAT. Most studies were done mainly in people of European ancestry.
