Somatropin is recombinant human growth hormone, identical to the hormone the pituitary gland makes. Injected daily or weekly, it is used for growth failure in children with growth hormone deficiency, Turner syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, kidney disease and some other conditions, and for growth hormone deficiency in adults. It is sold as Genotropin, Humatrope, Norditropin and other names.
As a protein hormone, somatropin is not handled by drug-processing enzymes. The few gene studies on it looked at CDK4 and COL1A1 for growth response in children. Studies elsewhere have looked at a common deletion in the growth hormone receptor gene (GHR exon 3), with mixed results. There is no CPIC or DPWG guideline.

PharmGKB weighs all studies of a variant and rates how strong the evidence is, from 1A (strongest) to 4.
CDK4 rs2270777: Level 3. Other. 1.
CDK4 rs2069502: Level 3. Other: Turner Syndrome. 1.
COL1A1 rs1800012: Level 3. Dosage. 1.
Studies of how well it worked in people carrying a variant.
Studies of how much of the drug people needed or tolerated.
Study findings and evidence levels: PharmGKB (CC BY-SA 4.0). Guidelines: CPIC and DPWG, as bundled in PharmCAT. Most studies were done mainly in people of European ancestry.
