Regorafenib (Stivarga)

Raw research findings for this medication. Mostly single studies, not curated or confirmed robust.

About Regorafenib

What it is

Regorafenib is a targeted cancer medicine, a multi-kinase inhibitor closely related to sorafenib, that blocks VEGF receptors, TIE2, KIT, RET, RAF and others. It is used for advanced bowel cancer after other treatments, gastrointestinal stromal tumours after imatinib and sunitinib, and liver cancer after sorafenib. Liver injury and hand-foot skin reactions are known side effects. It is sold as Stivarga.

How genes come into it

Regorafenib is broken down by CYP3A4 and UGT1A9 into active products. The gene study listed looked at KDR, the gene for VEGF receptor 2, for side effects. The evidence is weak, and there is no CPIC or DPWG guideline.
