Golimumab is a biologic TNF inhibitor, a fully human monoclonal antibody that binds and neutralises TNF-alpha. Injected once a month (or by drip), it is used for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and ulcerative colitis. It is sold as Simponi.
As an antibody, golimumab is not broken down by drug-processing enzymes. The few gene studies listed looked at TNF and the vitamin D receptor gene VDR for response. The findings come from a few studies, and there is no CPIC or DPWG guideline.
