Sarilumab (Kevzara)

Raw research findings for this medication. Mostly single studies, not curated or confirmed robust.

About Sarilumab

What it is

Sarilumab is a biologic medicine, a fully human monoclonal antibody that blocks the interleukin-6 receptor, like tocilizumab. Injected every two weeks, it is used for moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis and for polymyalgia rheumatica. It is sold as Kevzara.

How genes come into it

As an antibody, sarilumab is not broken down by drug-processing enzymes. The gene studies on it looked at IL6R, the gene for its target receptor, for response in rheumatoid arthritis. The findings come from a few studies, and there is no CPIC or DPWG guideline.
