Ribociclib (Kisqali)

Raw research findings for this medication. Mostly single studies, not curated or confirmed robust.

About Ribociclib

What it is

Ribociclib is a targeted cancer medicine that blocks CDK4 and CDK6, enzymes that push cells into division. It is used with hormone therapy for hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer, both advanced and, more recently, early-stage after surgery. Because it can lengthen the QT interval, heart tracings are checked. It is sold as Kisqali.

How genes come into it

Ribociclib is broken down mainly by CYP3A4 and is carried by ABCB1. The single gene study listed looked at ABCB1 in relation to dose reductions. Whether it is used depends on the hormone receptor and HER2 status of the tumour, tested on tumour tissue. There is no CPIC or DPWG guideline.
